I was born in the Slovak part of the former Czechoslovakia. Educated as an architect, I came to London in my twenties, immersing in the world of geometry, order and orthogonal systems, I grew increasingly fascinated by what exists in the spaces between, by softness, fluidity, movement and nature that defies rigid structures. This evolved into an artistic language expressed through bold colours, layered texture and rhythmic forms.
My work is deeply influenced by the the patterned macrame, lace and crochet embroidery of my mother and my grandmothers, and by the symbol rich Slovak, Hungarian and Ukrainian folk traditions of my heritage. These echoes intertwine with my architectural sensibility, meditative practice, and exploration of behavioural and cultural patterns.
Through painting and drawing, I explore the invisible that shapes our perception, the dance between the magical and the mundane.
