I work in both 2D and 3D, one influencing the other, developing from drawing and modelling and direct observation, often of the local environment. Earlier work explored the ‘soon to be’ demolished industrial structures of the old docklands.

Later 3D work developed out of detailed study of the human body and skeleton, and live mosquitoes; and explored themes of transience, mortality, and metamorphosis; influenced by baroque memorial sculpture and in contrast, the impersonal nature of anatomical, medical and scientific images such as x- rays. My pieces in transparent plastic, lifeless in themselves can be energised by light passing through them. These themes of transience and light are present in my drawings, mixed media and paintings, which more recently explore the poetic nature of interior spaces.
