I draw and paint the parks and streets, the cafés and music venues of Hackney. I try to catch the light and the movements and relationships of the everyday rituals of life. Dalston is fortunate to have two such unique and contrasted hubs of the community as Ridley Road Market and the Eastern Curve Garden. For many years I also painted the urban Arcadia of Hampstead Heath, the wild landscape of the Scottish Highlands, and the west coast of Ireland. For the last six years I have been exploring and drawing a wilderness closer to home in Epping Forest, whilst I am always drawn back to the vitality of Hackney.
